From June 5th to June 8th, Domestic Workers organizations from all over the United States will assemble in New York for the first ever National Congress. This historic event builds upon the success of a gathering held in Atlanta, Georgia during the US Social Forum in 2007 when the National Alliance was formed. The Congress is being held in New York to demonstrate support for the Bill of Rights legislation, which New York Domestic Worker groups have been fighting for since 2004. The following events are open to the public, we hope to see you there!

10:30 AM Panel on Domestic Worker Organizing in the US

Hear from domestic worker organizations as they share organizing experiences from different regions. The panel will highlight the local conditions as well as explain their current campaign and organizing efforts.

12:30 PM Lunch

1:30 PM Lessons in National Organizing

National organizing efforts present great opportunities as well as many challenges. This panel looks to learn from the experiences and knowledge from key national allies. Panelists include: National Day Laborer Organizing Network, Jobs with Justice, Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign, Grassroots Global Justice, Restaurant Opportunities Center United and RIght to the City Alliance.
